" They were my good friends. They were his friends too.

Mr Yeo said the boating accident and tragedy had been a 'devastating and traumatising' experience for the rest of the rowers.

He went to Cambodia last Thursday leading 21 dragon boat paddlers. On Monday, a shattered Yeo Chin Hwei, 27, returned home with only 16 of them.
The trainee teacher and captain of the 22-man national dragon boat team said:

'The past few days have been devastating and traumatising. It has been a near death experience for most of us.'

Speaking to reporters for the first time since last Friday's tragedy, he preferred not to dwell on the events that led their boat to capsize on the Tonle Sap.
But he described the agonising wait for news of the five young men who went missing. More than teammates, they had been his buddies and close friends.
'We had to stay,' he said. 'At first most of us still clung to some hope that there might be a miracle that they could have survived.'
That was the same heartfelt hope of every family member who had come to keep vigil by the Tonle Sap. On Saturday night, he met the family members to answer their questions and tell them what happened on the water before their sons and brothers disappeared.

'That is my responsibility,' he said on Monday. 'For the parents, they want the truth of what really happened.'

In the end there was no miracle. On Sunday, the five paddlers' bodies turned up one by one.
Mr Yeo had the sad task of identifying his friends' bodies, paying his respects with lighted joss sticks, and facing their inconsolable parents, brothers and sisters.

'It was tough but I had to do it, as the captain,' he said.

Asked how close he had been to the dead men, he broke down as he revealed that he had been closest to National Junior College teacher Stephen Loh, 31.
'Stephen was my...' he began, but was unable to finish his sentence. 'We were in the SEA Games together in 2005. I've known him for, like, five years.'
He was also close to engineer Poh Boon San,27, and had known the others - music composer and model Reuben Kee, 23, trainee teacher Jeremy Goh, 24 and full-time national serviceman Chee Wei Cheng, 20 - for about three years or less.

'I just want to say all of them were good guys,' he said. 'They had a promising future. Good friends, good teammates.'
Before leaving Phnom Penh yesterday, he and the other survivors returned to the Tonle Sap to say a last farewell.
They knelt, facing the water that took their friends. They tossed flowers into the water. They wept. 'Its painful,' he said.

one of the most heart-wrenching news i've seen. doesnt help that my aunt and her bf are both in the singapore dragon boat team too and they were supposed to head up to penang after that. 5 young lives lost. my deepest grief and condolences to the families. god bless you.

sakae sushing with the miney. although a highly successful business, you'll do much better buffing away certain rough edges of your business that so totally oblivious to you. the normalities with most restaurants i guess. quality and standard inversely related to the number of chains.

1) why give out new desserts menu with the whole new yummilicious haagen diaz ice creams, mud ice creams and the tempura fried ice cream?

met the veeko miney for lunch at streets cafe - the place where portuguese chicken baked rice is simply equal to....curry rice.

love the miney. love it when she goes "emmmm" or "hmmmmmm". love it when she smiles geefully at me. love it when u strut her tongue out at me. love it when she clings onto me like a tiny koala bear. love it. love it love it.

headed over to accessorize at raffles where the ugly people there kinda screwed up miney's stuffs. in miney's terms " THEIR SERVICE SUCKS. " but wholly shit.. the caps, hats and beanies are fuckinly cute. contrasting in terms of the stuffs they sold and the people working there. :)

but isnt it cool to own a beanie thats like made in CZECH REPUBLIC?yeahhh...the country that produces fine people like karel porborsky, jan koller, tomas rosicky, valdimir smicer and who can ever forget pavel nedved. sounds cliche eh.

headed over to chinatown where miney settled her money exchange thingy for her trip to london and nottingham. she's gonna be away for a good 3 weeks. whats gonna happen to jinpies. sigh. :(

Dinner was at Por Kee. It is situated in a carpark at tiong bahru, and in my impression, this place have very good food and unforgettable yam baskets. To make it even more unforgettable, miney's favourite FAVOURITEEE cousin and family joined. :) u know what? scientific studies have shown that eating more tofu can make a little girl prettier. thats true. OH...SO FUCKING un-TRUE. In wicked episodes of joy, laughter and fun. miney and i chuckles.

Iam sorrie fishy. its beyond my control. :( I've tried my best. I cant save u. actual fact is that i do love u steamingly hot served on my table. haha. miney loves that too. hahahaaa!

I really dun mind the entire block of flats be crystal clear white rather then subjecting the mercy of my block to incompetent HDB designers whom i guess is still living in his/her childhood fantasy where the more the colours, the better. this is not lego...dumbfucks.

today I was going to write my very 1st installment of my timeline for my holidays and iam not feeling inspired, so I probably should not. iam at the epitome of crankiness right now. i can't seem to stop the bum rush either. the cranks just won't go away no matter how much cartoon network i've seen. so, i'll see where the rest of the day takes me. brief snapshot of my day thus far: it started off badly with me rolling out of bed at 8.30am because my dear michael decided OF ALL TIMES to give me a sweet morning "bark", where I had conveniently set my alarm at 11am.

watched "24 weeks" a gory, zombified movie that totally rocks my socks. ok...gore, blood and zombies made me less cranky. BUT IAM STILL CRANKY.

so what does michael do to make the whole situation more pleasing? he decides to flip over the dustbin. how sweet right. as the only ass around in house, guess who's in charge or clearing the mess? me...IAM CRANKY.

the countless weeks of muggings from 3pm to 4am is really taking a toll on all of us. for whatever fuck reasons, can't u stupid melbourne asses set it easier so that everyone will have a better time? the world would definately be a better place to live in without the millions of swearing cum excessive ciggie puffing students. haaa. this is what i call positive externalities in consumption. sounds clique eh! anyway, all the muggs, debates, jokes, late night suppers etc...let us all put that down for a moment and leave it for our final sem!
